- Didmus Barasa has taken into consideration the proposal of Kenyans that President William Ruto be married to Rigathi Gachagua
- Barasa said that although the president and his deputy were elected together, they cannot be charged at the same time
- He argued that one must remain in office if the other is fired, similar to how it is handled at the county level.
Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has explained why President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua they cannot be charged at the same time.
What did Barasa say about the removal of Ruto-Gachagua?
In a video released on Friday, October 4, the MP said that some Kenyans want Ruto and Gachagua should be fired together because they were elected as one.
He claimed that this is impossible because, even in counties where governors and their deputies are jointly elected, impeachment motions are usually filed against only one.
Barasa said that this behavior ensures that the county still has a leader even if someone is fired, and the same applies to the country.
“For example, when they impeach the governor, the deputy governor takes the place of the governor. When they impeach the deputy governor, like the other day they impeached the deputy governor of Kisiiand left the governor. This is not different from the case of the president and his deputy,” Barasa said.
