The sports community in the country is mourning once again following the death of the famous athlete Samson Kandie.
How did Kandia meet his death?
Unknown assailants attacked Kandie on Thursday, October 3, at Elgon View Eldoret, County Uasin Gishu.
Kandie's daughter, Vienna Kandie, told Citizen TV that their mother called the athlete around 7:30 p.m., and said she was on her way home.
“We began to wonder about the whereabouts of Baba, because he was never late at home,” he said.
He added that when they tried to call the athlete around 9:00 in the afternoon. that same day, a strange man answered and told them to look for Kandie behind the toilet on their property.
“I found him. My father was tied up. His hands and feet were tied. He was brutally beaten. We rushed him to the hospital,” Vienna said.
How did the athletes react to Kendie's death?
Led by Ezekiel Kemboi, the athletes asked the government to ensure the safety of the athletes Kenyawhich criminals often target.

He set his personal best of 2:08:31 in the standard distance on September 26, 1999, at the Berlin Marathon, where he finished third. He also finished third in the Berlin Marathon in 1998.

A budding athlete dies in Uasin Gishu
Kandie's death comes days after young athlete Joseph Hussein Njagi collapsed and died following the 3,000m race during the scholarship trials.
Njagi participated in the scholarship trials at the Kipchoge Keino stadium, which aimed to identify talented athletes for further development.
According to the police report, the 20-year-old athlete managed to finish the race around noon but collapsed at the finish line.
Athletic officials at the scene quickly intervened and rushed him to the Uasin Gishu District Hospital in a bid to save his life. For luck Unfortunately, after arriving at the hospital, the promising athlete was pronounced dead by the doctors.
