A Form One student from Kiambu county has passed away due to cancer while receiving treatment at the Hospital Kenyatta National (KNH).
Charity donor Ndungu Nyoro, who organized the online donation, confirmed Perminus Njenga's death through a Facebook post on October 4, 2024.
“We asked for your help in December and soon in September so that he could receive cancer treatment. I would like to inform you that Perminus has passed away at KNH,” he wrote.
Nyoro asked social media users to pray for the family at this difficult time after losing their first child.
“Please pray for his brothers who loved their first brother and had great hope for his recovery. They have been taking care of him throughout his illness,” he added.
Perminus Njenga dies of leukemia
Njenga was diagnosed with leukemia in 2023 while still in primary school.
He fought hard, sitting his Kenya Certificate of Primary examination Education (KCPE) at home and passed with high marks, and got the Wings to Fly scholarship from Equity.
The boy came out Kiambu he entered Form One but had to stop his studies after being sent home three days after joining the school when he started to fall ill.
Following the situation, he stayed at home for three weeks without treatment because his family could not afford the fees.
However, the family saw a glimmer of hope when well-meaning Kenyans donated over KSh 700,000 for his medical expenses.
Kenyans mourn the death of Perminus Njenga
After the news of his death emerged, Kenyans have come forward to send their condolences to the family of the young man whose life was cut short by a dangerous disease.
