“Kisha Gachagua”: The Court Refuses to Help the Deputy President Not to Be Dismissed

Nairobi—Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has received a major blow in his quest to prevent the planned motion to oust him.

The embattled member of parliament moved to the High Court asking it to order the National Assembly not to include public participation in the impeachment motion.

However, on Thursday, October 3, the Judge of the Supreme Court Luck Mwamuye refused to give instructions to stop the exercise of public participation in the motion to fire Gachagua.

In his decision, Judge Mwamuye approved the case as urgent and ordered it to be heard as a priority.

“The petitioner/petitioner shall submit this application, petition and court order to the respondents and parties by the close of business today and shall thereafter submit an affidavit of service in this regard by 10.00 in the morning of October 4.

“This request dated 02/10/2024 will be mentioned on 09.10.2024 in fact to confirm compliance and take instructions to expedite the hearing and decision of the matter,” Judge Mwamuye said.
