Acting Chief Executive Officer of Hustler Fund Elizabeth Nkukuu told the parliamentary committee that they are currently engaging telephone operators such as Safaricom about how to recover unpaid loans from their customers.

Nkukuu said that about 98 percent of users who missed the service use their mobile phones and do daily M-Pesa transactions, thus deciding to go through it.

“We have looked at the numbers, and it shows that 98% are still alive. That gives us hope that we can still recover the money. For those who have borrowed and died, we have no choice; there is nothing we can do. But it is only about two to three percent,” Nkkuu said.
