MPs want William Ruto's security to be strengthened during the process of ousting Gachagua

Nairobi Members of Parliament have expressed their concern about their safety after being given a notice of motion to impeach the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

A total of 291 MPs signed in support of the motion.

Member of Parliament for Suna East Junet Mohamed, when he appreciated the magnitude of the issue before Parliament, expressed his concern about the safety of MPs participating in the case against Gachagua.

He pointed out that those who support the motion may be threatened or put in the way or even face a bad security situation in the efforts of unnamed people to suppress the case.

The congressman referred to the events on Capitol Hill in 2021 when supporters of the former president of the United States Donald Trump they stormed the Congress, forcing the terrified lawmakers to hide.

“I want to get your assurance that the 291 MPs who signed this indictment, their protection and safety will be guaranteed, we want them all to appear here on the day of voting, you know this and you know it. what could happen here,” Junet said.

Member of Parliament for Daadab Farah Maalim shared in the same concern, asking for more security not only for the members of parliament but also for the President William Ruto.

“I also join my colleagues in this. But I just want to talk about the most important issue, not only to protect the lives of the 291 members of parliament who have signed there. We must protect the system. The IG must protect our lives. A careless president. Any careless thug can decide to change history …if God would prevent anything from happening to our president, then we have something bigger to worry about for our President until this argument ends,” said Maalim.
