Kebaso was arrested at his offices in Kahawa Sukari, Nairobi on Monday, September 30, and brought to court a day later.

Why was Morara Kebaso arrested?

The charge sheet seen by TUKO.co.ke showed that Morara committed cyberbullying under Section 27 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act.

He was accused of publishing false news about Langat, alleging that President William Ruto tricked the leader into lending him a large sum of money on the promise of repayment.

Is David Langat stalking Morara Kebaso?

Langat, chairman of DL Group of Companies Ltd, would respond moments later, denying his position as a plaintiff in the charge sheet.

This happened after the tycoon, the owner of the Koisagat Tea Factory based there Nandi Hills, to come to the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in Nairobi to give his explanation about the matter.

He told investigators, and later returned in the company's official statement, that he had not relationship anything with the case or Morara as a person.

“DL Group has noticed great interest from the public and the media regarding the indictment circulating online where our chairman David Langat is named as the complainant. At the invitation of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCIour chairman has written a statement at the DCI Headquarters this morning and emphasized that he has nothing to do with the authors or the content of the online publications. The statement from DL came after Morara was released after hours of detention.

Morara did not submit his request for his arraignment, as his lawyers claimed that the charge was flawed.

The court later released him on bail of KSh 50,000 cash, while the case is scheduled to be mentioned on October 4.
