Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has warned MPs from the Rift Valley region against supporting the motion to remove him from power.
What did Gachagua tell MPs from the Rift Valley?
Speaking to reporters in Rift Valley on Monday, September 30, Gachagua vowed not to resign as the country's deputy president.
“I saw others saying that since 300 members of parliament have signed in support of my impeachment request, I should just resign. Why would I resign if I didn't give myself this job?” Gachagua said.
Gachagua added that he believes he has not done anything wrong and is confident in his position while insisting that no one will threaten him to resign.
In addition, Gachagua further dared Rift Valley MPs to support the motion to remove him from power, warning that the voters of Mount Kenya they watch and wait.
“If they decide to evict me, let them do it. People from Mlimi Kenya they are waiting for Rift Valley MPs to kick me out,” he insisted.
What did Oscar Sudi say about Gachagua's statement?
Responding, Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi he reminded Gachagua that his time in office is limited, asking him to promote unity in Kenya while pointing out that Gachagua's intention is to benefit himself.
Sudi also asked Gachagua to abandon the alleged tribal politics and stop trying to isolate the Mount Kenya community and other Kenyans for his personal interests.

This is happening while the Deputy Majority Leader in the National Assembly Owen Baya is scheduled to submit a motion to dismiss Gachagua on Tuesday afternoon, October 1.

Gachagua has been charged with violation of the constitution, violation of related laws, gross misconduct, and abuse of office.

Another concern is Gachagua's decision to blame the National Intelligence Service for the violent protests against the 2024 Finance Bill.
