Why does Gachagua want it? Mount Kenya engaged before his removal
Gachagua reminded the MPs about the solidarity of the Mt Kenya area that President William Ruto showed during his struggle in the previous administration, despite the fact that he was not from the area.
He further warned them to consider how the local community would feel if theirs was mistreated.
“The people of Mount Kenya sympathized with Ruto who faced injustice even though he did not come from here. Now, what do you think the community would do if their people were abused? I ask the members of parliament to consult with the residents if they did so. Accept to see themselves being abused and pushed out,” he said.
In addition, he pointed out that any argument for his removal must come from President Ruto, pointing out that the absence of an answer from Ruto could mean supporting his removal from power.
Has the termination of Rigathi Gachagua been confirmed?
While this was happening, the Majority Leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung'wah confirmed the removal of Gachagua and explained that he had read and signed the motion.
Ichung'wah opposed tribal politics that wanted to divide the people of Mount Kenya.
He claimed that Gachagua's calls for unity in the region have led to the emergence of factions that aim to withdraw their loyalty from the Kenya Kwanza alliance and create new alliances with great influence as the 2027 election approaches.
