Kiambu – Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dared those plotting to oust him including President William Ruto to try.
In another case of deteriorating relations with his boss, Ruto, Gachagua maintained that his position was obtained through the power of the people.
During a recent meeting, Gachagua addressed the growing call for his removal and emphasized that the power to remove him from office does not come from anyone.
“So, the parliamentarians are trying to scare me, saying they will fire me… eeh. They are trying to sell me fear. They are not trying to sell me fear,” Gachagua told the cheering crowd.
He emphasized that the government of UDA It is a joint effort, saying that they worked tirelessly to create the current administration.
Gachagua made it clear that his position was based on the choice of the voters, not the appointment of Ruto.
“I tell you this: We worked hard to get this government. And our UDA party has a President and a Deputy President; and we were all elected on the same ticket. It was not the President who gave me this job, it was you… it was not you or not,” he asked, receiving cheers.
What will happen if Gachagua is fired?
And the deputy president warned President Ruto against any internal measures that could disrupt the party, reminding him that they came to power together.
Gachagua said that there is a possibility that the ruling party may fall apart if he is removed from his post.
He pleaded with Ruto to allow him to complete the remaining three years in office and make the right decision after that.
“We are saying, if you don't want Rigathi Gachagua, won't this UDA party fall apart? Will it be possible or not? I am asking about the planning plans out there. Our president is asking you, don't destroy this government, we entered this government together, let's work for the remaining three years, and if There are other issues, you can decide later people of Kenya right?” Gachagua added.
Why is Gachagua angry with Ruto?
Earlier, the vice president denounced being disrespected by the secretaries of the Cabinet and other young people who have entered into a fierce battle against him.
He seemed to blame Ruto, implying that Ruto had backed down to see him face problems.
In his appeal to the president, Gachagua reminded him of the oath he took when they entered office after the 2022 vote.
He recalled that Ruto promised not to allow him to be humiliated, as was the case during the administration of former president Uhuru Kenyatta when the current president was humiliated.
