During the memorial service held at Mweiga Stadium on Thursday, September 26, tears flowed as the student sand reading that powerful letter, showing the grief and sadness that gripped the entire school community.

The memorial, attended by family, friends, and leaders, was a commemoration of the tragic tragedy.

“In great mourning, sadness and grief, we find little strength to express how we feel. We have crossed many rivers, even with poor hopes, but this one is wide, deep, and wet. You thought that one day, death will come between love our, our bond?” the student stood meditating.

He explained relationship the depth the students shared and the unimaginable pain of losing close friends and classmates in such a tragic way.

A grieving student recounted the happy times the students spent together, learning, playing, and growing, with hopes and dreams for the future.

“We've come a long way; learning, playing, eating, and praying together. It's painful to realize that our good times are now just memories. Together, we worked tirelessly with great hope that eventually, it would be what we always reminded ourselves we wanted to be when we grew up, ” the student said.

Hope in times of great sadness

The weight of the loss was evident as the crowd listened in silence, many seemingly moved by the touching words.

He also highlighted the impact of the victims on their peers, noting that their absence will be seen in every aspect of school life.

“However, death has cruelly robbed us of possessions more valuable than gold and silver. Much of the Hillside family has been stolen from us,” he blamed.

As the ceremony drew to a close, the student found comfort from the Bible in Philippians 4:7, giving a sense of peace and hope in the midst of so much sadness.

“When we continue to ask ourselves why, every morning, we firmly hold the words of the Holy Scriptures in Philippians 4:7: 'And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ. Jesus.' Until we meet again our beloved, dance with the angels in heaven,”Travel safe.”

Hillside Endarasha is reducing the number of boarding students

Earlier, the school administration announced plans to reduce the dormitory capacity from 330 to 195 students.

David Kinyua, who is the owner of the school, explained that there was not enough space to accommodate all the students following the fire tragedy.
