Siaya – The police in Rarieda Division have launched an investigation into the brutal murder of Moses Oduor Mbeda, the deputy chief of Memba sub-region.
Mbeda was killed by unknown people in the early morning of Saturday, September 21, at his home.

According to the Siaya County Police Commander, Serah Koki, the sad incident happened around 7pm when Mbeda was leaving his house to go to the toilet in his house.
It was then that the assailants attacked him, injuring him particularly by cutting his neck with a sword.
Mbeda was rushed to Lwak Mission hospital in a critical condition but was pronounced dead on arrival due to the serious injuries he sustained.
“The deputy chief was immediately rushed to the neighboring Lwak Mission Hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to the serious injuries he had sustained,” said Koki.
Authorities have launched an extensive investigation into the murder, as officials try to identify those who committed the brutal crime.
The body of the deceased has been kept at the Lwak Mission Hospital mortuary for an autopsy, which will further assist in the ongoing investigation.
How a 20-year-old was killed in Siaya
Still in Siaya county, a 20-year-old man was killed in a controversial situation in Ukwala, Ugenya.
Citizen Digital reported that the death of the young man caused panic in the area, which led to the house of the suspect of the murder being set on fire.
The Siaya County Police Commander, Cleti Kimaiyo, said a group of about ten youths invaded Okech Okwako's house looking for his grandson.
In that incident, the angry youths set fire to Oketch's grandson's thatched house, burning it to the ground.
Preliminary investigation shows that Oketch's grandson was among the people who allegedly attacked the deceased.
The police found the body of the deceased still lying on the side of the Awendo-Diraho road, 200 meters away from the compound, with a big wound on the left side of the stomach.
