Nairobi – Convicted Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has suffered a major legal blow in his highly publicized court case
Masengeli's problems increased after his attempt to apologize and delay his sentence was rejected by the High Court.
In a case heard on Thursday, September 19, Masengeli, through his lawyers Steve Ogolla and Cecil Miller, wanted to appear before Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi to ask for forgiveness.
However, the court dismissed the request in what appears to be an attempt to prevent his six-month prison sentence.
Masengeli had asked to be allowed to appear before the High Court Judge and submit his apology between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
However, Judge Mfawidhi Chacha Mwita was not moved by the request and refused to agree to Masengeli's request.
Instead, Judge Chacha ordered the case to be presented before Magistrate Mugambi on Friday, September 20, for further instructions.
