A newspaper reported on jobs allocated to Kenyans in Germany.

1. The Standard

The newspaper revealed that 3,000 Kenyans are needed for driving jobs in Germany.

Ambassador of Kenya in Germany, Stella Mokaya revealed that the government is making rapid efforts to achieve the plan.

Mokaya said four Kenyans – two women and two men – are already scheduled to join Aktiv Bus Flensburg.

The four are expected to demonstrate their driving skills.

“Germany was the first country to recognize Kenya's independence in 1963, thus laying a solid foundation for cooperation that has brought strong cooperation between the two countries, a good example of international cooperation,” he said.

“Germany and Kenya are working closely to address mutual concerns on labor mobility and an agreement on labor mobility cooperation is expected soon,” he added.

The first group of drivers are from Homa Bay; they will have to enroll at Tom Mboya University to learn German.

Furthermore, the drivers will comply with German traffic laws considering that the Kenyan driver's license is not recognized in the European country.

President William Ruto was recently in Germany, where he signed the Kenya-Germany Agreement on Comprehensive Cooperation on Migration and Migration, which would establish a framework for cooperation on, among other benefits, labor migration, vocational training and student training.

The European nation would grant long-term visas to eligible Kenyans for vocational studies or training, with the possibility of extending their stay for professional experience and possible employment.

This newspaper reported on a dispute between the National Police Service and the Judiciary following the confiscation of a High Court judge.

Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli found himself in the Judiciary's bad books after he reportedly approved the removal of Justice Lawrence Mugambi's security detail.

Mugambi sentenced Masengeli to six months in prison after the defendants ignored court summons.

Masengeli however denied accusations that the removal of the judge's security was intended to threaten the judiciary.

The Judicial Services Commission (JSC), chaired by Chief Justice Martha Koome, condemned the actions of the National Police Service.

The JSC suggested that the police were targeting the Court for its decisions, raising concerns about intimidation of judges.

The acting police boss explained that the removal of Justice Mugambi's security detail was for routine training and there was no malicious intent.

Masengeli explained that the decision to remove Mugambi's two security officers was purely administrative.

3. Daily Nation

The newspaper reported on the challenge facing President William Ruto regarding the reorganization of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the delay in forming an election management board is denying Kenyans their right to representation.

Kalonzo noted that for more than a year, IEBC has not had the quorum to carry out its duties.

Former chairman Wafula Chebukati and commissioners Boya Molunand Abdi Guliye left in early 2023 after their term expired.

For the other commissioners, Juliana Cherera, Justuys Nyang'aya, Irene Masit and Francis Wanderi withdrew from the commission after disputes regarding the 2022 presidential election.

Kalonzo pointed out that some areas have not yet received representatives as the commission cannot hold by-elections.

Banisa constituency (Member of Parliament died), Kisa Mashariki ward (MCA died), and now Ugunja constituency (Member of Parliament appointed to the Cabinet) has been left without representatives as no by-elections have been scheduled.
