Cyrus Musyoka, Councilor of Ikanga Ward, almost lost his life after being attacked by unknown people in the center of the city Nairobi.

Why was Musyoka attacked?

Musyoka, popularly known as Sonko, confronted a group of men who violently assaulted him and left him unconscious.

Channel 15 news reported that the councilor was involved in what is believed to be a misidentification incident.

Kamukunji police arrived at the scene and rescued Musyoka from the attackers, who continued to attack him even after he lost consciousness.

He was later taken to Nairobi Hospital for treatment.

The attackers armed with blunt weapons have not yet been arrested, while the police promised to arrest them to determine the motive behind the attack.

In another incident, the Councilor of Macalder Kanyarwanda, Felix Okwanyo, was hospitalized with a knife wound after being attacked by unknown youths from the Nyatike area.

Doctor Mayank Puri, Director of Lifecare Hospital Operations, and his colleague Doctor Ngasi Cavin confirmed receiving injured people, including councilor Okwanyo, who suffered injuries to the chest, head, and hands.

The incident involved locals, police, and a group associated with a visiting politician, who clashed for several hours.

The riots started after councilor Okwanyo was reportedly beaten and stabbed over the 'Copper Hill' gold mine dispute.

Two police officers suffered serious head injuries and were rushed to hospital. Another person, identified as Julian Adongo, was also injured by a stray bullet but is in stable condition after treatment.

During the violence, a politician's car was set on fire, while the police used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
