Willy Chelewa, who recently participated in the race Nairobi City Marathon half marathon and finished in 67th place in 65 minutes and 30 seconds, he fell and died in the hotel where he was staying while he was training in Kapatagat area.

What caused the sudden death of Willy Chelewa?
The county police commander Peter Mulinge confirmed the incident, noting that Chelewa ate rice and black coffee before passing out.
The hotel management reported his death, and authorities have since collected samples of the food he ingested for analysis.
The investigation into the circumstances of his death is ongoing, and the cause of his death is still unknown.
At the same time, Chelewa had secured sponsorship from a Chinese company for an international race.
His death is part of a troubling trend involving athletes who have died in a variety of circumstances, including accidents and relationship issues.
Ugandan athlete Rebecca Cheptegei dies
September 5, Olympian of Uganda Rebecca Cheptegei died in Kenya after allegedly being attacked by her boyfriend, Dickson Ndiema.
Reports say that following a heated argument, Ndiema poured petrol on him and set him on fire, causing injuries that covered 80 percent of his body.
Cheptegei, who had participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, was returning from church when the tragic incident happened. He was given full military honors during his deportation to Bukwo district in Eastern Uganda.
In a twist of events, Ndiema also passed away while receiving treatment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in the city Eldoret.
