Kenyan Newspapers, September 17: Kimemramba Gachagua, Kenya's Enemies First Revive Plot to Kill Him

On Tuesday, September 17, local newspapers covered political events in the country, highlighting the state of anxiety in the leadership of the country where Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is in danger of being isolated.

The newspapers also wrote extensively about the apparent immunity of the accused Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli.

The daily newspaper reported on the ongoing conflict in Kenya's ruling party Kwanza as the camps of President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua entered into a political crisis.

In recent days, the professional relations of the two leaders have been seen to be in danger, this fact being confirmed by the fights between their subordinates.

Senator of Kiambu Karungo Thangwa now says that a plot to save Gachagua is being prepared from the side of the president.

The climax of the conflict was witnessed on Sunday, September 15, when the vice president was seen skipping a church function in his home county, which the president was attending.

Ruto was at the launch of the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) Mid-West Diocese held at the Ngangarithi Primary School Stadium in Painan event that Gachagua missed despite being 'reserved' a seat.

However, the deputy president was in Kirinyaga attending another event.

According to the Kiambu senator, Sunday's events spoke to a conspiracy against the deputy president.

Thangwa also referred to the recent move by some Mount Kenya MPs to reject Gachagua and support Kindiki as their elected leaders, saying it was part of the script.

Former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu also weighed in on the issue wondering why the president appointed Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru to represent him (Ruto) in an event attended by the deputy president.

Gachagua and Waiguru were among the leaders who were celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Catholic Church of Our Lady of Majonzi Baricho in Ndia, Kirinyaga.

According to Waititu, the president sent Waiguru to deliver KSh 2 million to the church, however the deputy president attended.

“That's why we find claims that the president entrusted the job of Kirinyaga to his deputy as absurd. If that were the case, he would have given the contribution to Gachagua,” argued Waititu.

Talks about Gachagua's removal were shut down last month when the president reportedly met Mlima MPs Kenya to discourage them.

It was resurrected last Sunday when the Member of Parliament Kikuyu and the Majority Leader in the National Assembly called for the president “remove immediately the snake that clings to your hand to prevent you from achieving what you intended to do for the country.”
