Nairobi – Two people have died in a serious accident near the intersection of Argwings Kodhek and Oledume roads.
Who died in the accident involving the KBS bus?
Police said the victims of the accident on Monday, September 16 were a boda boda driver and his passenger.
Preliminary investigation shows that the Kenya Bus Service (KBS) bus that was speeding from Kawangware towards the center of the city, it failed to brake and hit several motorcycles and other vehicles in front of it.
Witnesses said the fatal accident started when the bus, which was heading to Nairobi CBD, hit a double cabin pick-up from behind.
What the witnesses of the KBS bus accident said
A traffic officer at the scene stopped the bus, ordering the driver to stop.
However, the bus driver ignored the officer's order and tried to run away before hitting a motorcycle on the other side of the road.
“The bus hit the pick-up first, but the driver did not stop despite the officer's orders. He continued forward, hitting several other vehicles, including a boda boda, before stopping,” said one witness.
Police said at least 30 passengers on the bus sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Video from the scene showed how horrific the accident was with the bodies of those hit in the middle of the road before the police arrived.
