For that – At least five people have been confirmed dead following a fatal accident on the Likoni-Kombani road, Kwale county.
The accident on Sunday, September 15, in the morning involved a truck and a motorcycle in the Denyenye area.
Coastal Regional Police Commander, George Sedah said five people died on the spot, and another suffered serious injuries after the motorcycle that was being driven at high speed hit a truck that was stuck from the rear.
Sedah said the motorcycle was being driven from Kombani towards Likoni when the incident happened.
“It seems there were six people on the motorcycle because one survived and was rushed to the hospital. We call on all parties, including pedestrians, to be vigilant at all times for their safety,” Sedah said.
According to the police, the driver of the motorcycle was carrying five million passengers when the accident happened at one in the morning.
Preliminary investigation by the police shows that all the victims were passengers on motorbikes.
The injured passenger was rushed to the Diani Beach hospital in critical condition.
