Why do ODM leaders want supporters not to celebrate early?

Speaking to journalists in Kisumu on Friday, September 13, Kisumu's Female Representative Ruth Odinga he emphasized that it is too early to celebrate, as Raila Odinga has not yet won.

“These ideas that we have already found will not help other presidents and other countries that would like to support us. No one wants any kind of pride. This is something that he has campaigned for,” Ruth insisted. .

Ruth said since the followers of Kenya of Raila Odinga will not participate in the voting activity, the best they can do is to remember him in their prayers.

“This is the time when we need to pray. We should focus on supporting the hon Raila in his pursuit of the AU seat,” Ruth added.

Deputy Governor of the County Poisonous Mathews Owili and Kisumu Central Member of Parliament Joshua Oron supported Ruth Odinga's views, criticizing those who say that Raila has already won the position of AUC chairman.

This followed the unanimous approval of Kisumu Governor, Anyang' Nyong'o, as interim party leader and ODM leadership in Kisumu County.

“As the first General Secretary, Prof. Nyong'o is the most suitable to take the Party forward, due to his distinguished and honorable service,” the leaders said.

Raila's quest for the AUC seat is entering an important stage

Earlier, Raila's quest for the AUC chairmanship took a big step.

On Monday, July 29, Kenya officially nominated Raila as its candidate for the AUC seat ahead of the February 2025 elections.

Through the Secretary General of Foreign Affairs Korir Sing'oei, Kenya presented Raila's credentials at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The application documents were presented to the Regional Commissioner for the East, HE Dharmraj Busgeeth, Ambassador of Mauritius.
