Gathoni Wamuchomba Says The 48 Members of Parliament Who Escaped Gachagua Have Made Him Stronger: “It's a Blessing”

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba is not convinced that the resolutions of the parliamentary session Mount Kenya will have any impact on the ground.

48 MPs from the region met in Nyahururu on Thursday, September 12, to discuss the political dynamics of the region and its general well-being.

They resolved to back Interior Cs Kithure Kindiki as their most preferred leader, charging him with the sole responsibility of linking the region to the National Executive, therefore dissenting from Deputy President Rigathi Gachaguawho had styled himself as Mt Kenya's de facto leader.

They agreed to give him the Minister of the Interior Kithur Kindiki the responsibility of uniting the area with the president, and announcing the rejection of Vice President Rigathi Gachagua, who had positioned himself as the chief leader of Mount Kenya.

Responding to the development, Wamuchomba suggested that the MPs were irrelevant in their states, after losing the trust of their voters.

He observed that the MPs supported the condemned Finance Bill of 2024, saying their position as a betrayal of the people and that they will not free themselves from the financial bill scandal.

Wamuchomba laughed at the new political activities of the MPs, saying they are using the deputy president to change their minds about the bill.

“The 48 members should know that they lost touch with their constituents when they voted yes to the heavy penalty bills in 2023 and 2024. The press conference to deny the DP is a diversionary tactic from the pressing needs of their constituents, “ait said.

He said it would be wise if his colleagues would focus on defending the interests of the residents Mount Kenya.

The member of parliament saw that the move against Gachagua would not only make the deputy president strong but also love Kenyans.

“Their declaration was just a fire aimed at stimulating the political environment to scare the Deputy President from the government. When they do that, the Deputy President becomes more and more courageous and changes to become the favorite of many Kenyans,” he said.

About 35 MPs attended the meeting, while 13 MPs sent their pardon requests but agreed.

In a statement to the newsrooms, the MPs said they have unanimously decided that the Prime Minister of the Interior will be their link to the national government.

The MPs decided to form a coordinating committee to connect them with higher level offices.

They criticized that their efforts to strengthen development were frustrated in the past due to the lack of a reference center where the interests and priorities of the people can be directed to the government for implementation.

Gachagua has been portraying himself as a local leader, often rallying voters behind him.

However, he has been opposed by stubborn parliamentarians who accuse him of promoting the backward politics of tribalism and tribalism which are assumed to be a call for unity.
