It has been revealed that three of the six children who were hit and killed by a speeding car at Kyoani Market in Ikutha, on Kibwezi Road are from the same family.
Where is Kyoani Secondary School located?
According to Nation, the neighbors were able to identify the six children quickly when they arrived at the scene of the accident.
Five of the six children were girls, and one was a boy.
The students included two Form Three girls and one Form One girl, all students of the nearby Kyoani Secondary School.
Two other girls and a boy were studying at Kyoani Primary School located in the county of Kitui.
How did the accident happen?
The Mutomo Police report revealed that a Toyota Probox came from Kibwezi and lost direction before cultivating those children.
“The car was traveling from Kibwezi to Kitui, and the driver hit the children who were going in the same direction,” he said.
Although the driver fled the scene, he has been arrested and will continue to be detained at the police station until the authorities' investigation is completed.
Five family members died in a road accident
In another incident, five members of a family, including a three-year-old child, died in a tragic accident involving their car and a truck in Chidambaram area.
Police said the victims were returning from Chennai when they went to visit a sick relative.
According to the police, the truck traveling from Chidambaram to Cuddalore lost its direction before hitting the car.
A senior police officer of Cuddalore explained that many drivers do not respect the traffic rules at night, and the lack of traffic officers leads to frequent accidents.
