Bwire, 15, a student of Shitsitswi Secondary School, was riding his bike with a friend when he was hit by a sugarcane truck from the rear.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened early in the morning when the students were on their way to school.
Bwire was killed instantly, while his friend who was riding as a passenger survived but suffered serious injuries.
“This child was on his way to school and he was carrying his friend, who for luck the good one survived. However, his colleague did not survive because he was badly crushed,” said the witness.

How the teachers mourned Wabwire
The truck involved in the accident was transporting sugar cane to a nearby processing plant, which is a common practice for the locals.
They revealed that they have long expressed their concern about the high number of accidents caused by these large trucks.
The principal of Shitsitswi Secondary School Joseph Inganga expressed his sadness at the loss of Bwire while describing him as a promising young leader.
“In this school he was the leader of the Christian Union (CU) group, he was a student whom the teachers valued and trusted a lot, showing great leadership ability. These sugar cane carts are dangerous on the road, they often drive at high speed and many people have complained about it. We would like to speak to the company concerned to ensure they investigate the behavior of their drivers,” Inganga said.
