Kakamega – A dark cloud has engulfed Shilalyo village of Shinyalu after a 25-year-old man allegedly hacked his father to death.
The sad incident occurred after a confrontation between the deceased, known as Kizito Hamas aged 49, and his son Sammy.
According to the family, a dispute broke out over the dead pig, leading to violence when Kizito tried to intervene.
Debla Khasiala, the deceased's mother, narrated the horrific incident, revealing that Sammy, during the argument, turned on his father with a machete.
Despite Kizito's attempt to flee, Khasiala said he was beaten by his son in a brutal attack that has shocked residents.
“I saw Kizito fall while running fast, and his son Sammy was hitting him with a sword. He cut his neck, head and arm completely,” he said, fighting back tears.
Where did the man go after killing his father?
Maina Isalambo, Kizito's brother, expressed shock at the incident, attributing Sammy's actions to substance abuse, especially cannabis.
Isalambo explained that by the time they responded to the commotion it was already too late as Sammy had fled after killing his father.
“You know, young people these days smoke weed or something, then he came here and caused trouble and ended up attacking his own father. When we arrived, he had already killed his father. We have nothing more to say; we don't even know where he is now,” he added.
The police are currently searching for the 25-year-old suspect, who is still at large.
