Fire broke out at Isiolo Girls High School, Lateketea Boarding School

A fire has destroyed the dormitory of the girls' high school Isiolo.

The Red Cross Kenya confirmed sending its staff to the scene.

“A fire incident has been reported at Isiolo Girls High School, Isiolo County. Response teams have been activated,” the humanitarian organization said in an X update.

National Police Service spokesperson Resila Onyango said the fire was under control.

No injuries were reported, although property of unknown value was reduced to ashes.

Locals were the first responders, reinforced by the emergency response of the Isiolo county government and the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), who showed up with a fire engine.

Governor Abdi Guyo called on government investigators to investigate the incident and determine the cause.

“I am very saddened by the case of luck Bad fire in Isiolo Girls tonight. My government is working tirelessly to mobilize all emergency responders to the scene, even as I urge the security team to identify the cause,” said through X.

The fire came two days after another in the school Pain.

How many students died in the Endarasha School fire?

About 16 students have lost their lives in the tragedy at Hillside Endarasha Academy Primary School.

The fire burned the dormitory of the school's students where they were sleeping and caused more deaths.

Five other students died in hospital.

Nyeri county police commander Benjamin Rotich revealed that the other 14 students had suffered serious injuries at the scene of the incident.

William Ruto's instructions after the Endarasha Academy fire

Responding to the incident, President William Ruto ordered the relevant agencies to take action to determine what caused the fire.

While comforting the bereaved with his condolences, the president said that all those found guilty will be dealt with.

He demanded the Ministry of Internal Affairs under Minister Kithure Kindiki to speed up the investigation of the incident.
