One family of Pain It painfully recounted the events that led to the arrest of a father and his four adult sons and a total of 100 years in prison.

Nyeri's wives speak
Speaking to Inooro TV, their wives recounted through tears how living without the support of their husbands has been a challenge.
“On the night of the incident, my husband earned money for selling onions and went to a bar. When he got home in the evening, he came with an injured eye. I asked to take him to the hospital but he refused saying he did not want to take p3 forms,” Leah Nyawira, mother and wife of the prisoners said.
In 2020, a year after the incident, five police officers raided Nyawira's compound and arrested her husband and sons.
On her part, the wife of John, one of the prisoners, said when Kihoi was arrested, she called her husband and told him to take care of his goat.
“However, one of the police officers responded saying that they were also arresting John,” he said.
His wife Evans Mutitu, Kihoi's son-in-law, said her husband had accompanied Kihoi to the bar on the night of the incident.
The wives revealed that they tried to talk to the complainant, and he claimed he wanted 800k from the five defendants so that he could drop the case. However, they could not collect the money.
His wife Ken Wachira revealed that she did not know that her husband had a case in court when they got married.
“He left me with a two-month-old child, I waited for him that day, but he did not come home, later I learned that he had been imprisoned for 20 years with his father and brothers,” he said.
Good Samaritans volunteer to help
Since the plight of the five family members emerged, several lawyers and MCA Kirugu Thuku have offered to appeal and represent them, citing several loopholes in the case.
“We were sentenced to 100 years in prison while five of us are expected to serve up to 20 years,” Kihoi said in an earlier interview.
The father and his sons are imprisoned until 2037.
