The new Champions League draw for 36 teams has been held in Monaco.

England representatives Arsenal have landed PSG, Inter Milan, Shakhtar Donetsk, Atalanta, Dinamo Zagreb, Sporting Lisbon, Monaco and Girona.

The competition will begin shortly after club football returns from the first international break of the season.

Liverpool will face Real Madrid, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan, Lille, PSV, Bologna, and Girona.

English champions and European champions 2023 Manchester City will face Inter Milan, PSG, Club Brugge, JuventusFeyenoord, Sporting CP, Sparta Praha, and Slovan Bratislava.

The teams were placed in four pots, with each team drawing a real ball on stage, according to Sky Sports. Cristiano Ronaldo pressed a button and automatically drew eight opponents into four pots.

Who will Real Madrid play?

Defending champions Real Madrid will face Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool, AC Milan, Atalanta, Salzburg, Lille, Stuttgart, and Brest.

Aston Villa, returning to the major European championships, will face Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Juventus, Club Brugge, Celtic, Young Boys, Bologna, and Monaco.

The new-look Champions League kicks off on September 17, with the fixture list released on Saturday, August 31.

Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen have entered a difficult match, including Liverpool, AC Milan, and Atletico Madrid. New players Bologna will face Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.

The tournament has been overhauled, meaning that the games have increased to 189 from 125.

So the group stage will be known as the league stage. These teams will be organized in the same league and will play eight games each – four at home and four away.

The teams will be ranked by their total points at the end of the league phase games.

The top eight teams will qualify directly for the first knockout stage, while the 9th to 24th teams will play a two-legged knockout stage to find eight additional teams for the last 16 stage.
