Nairobi – Police have released more details about the horrific accident involving a Ranger Rover and a canter on the Highway Mombasa – Nairobi.
The police report states that two people died on the spot, and three others were injured after the Ranger Rover collided with an FRR Isuzu canter in Maji Ya Chumvi.
According to the police, the Ranger Rover was driven by Jamal Mubarak, 37 years old, who died along with a 29-year-old female passenger.
When the accident happened, the brand new Ranger Rover was being handed over to its new owner in the city Nairobi.
The Ranger Rover driver was trying to overtake another car that was speeding when he collided head-on with an Isuzu canter car and caused the luxury car to be fired.
“Jamal Mubarak, 37 years old, was driving a Range Rover from Mombasa to Nairobi. When they arrived at the accident site in Maji Ya Chamvi, passing the wrong way, he collided head-on with a car that was coming from the other side of the Isuzu FRR ,” the police report said as quoted by the Nation.
The luxury car had no registration number and was still using a temporary one.

Elsewhere, the family that lost five relatives, including bride Brenda Masakhwe, in the Eldoret-Malaba accident shared the events that led to the deaths.
The bride's father, Javan Masakhwe, recalled how his daughter would bring him gifts during his visits.
Her mother, who could not bear her pain, explained how Brenda played an important role in their family.
