Evans Kimori, a Nakuru resident, is pushing for the deportation of Governor Susan Kihika over her continued stay in the US.

In a letter to President Donald Trump and CC’ed to his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto, Kimori implored the US head of state to facilitate Governor Kihika’s return so that she could resume her duties.

“On behalf of the residents of Nakuru, I respectfully request your intervention in facilitating (deporting) her return to Kenya so that she can resume her duties,” Kimori’s letter read in part.

Accountability

In his letter, Kimori noted that Nakuru electorates deserve accountable leadership and decried that Kihika’s continued stay in the US undermines the trust and democratic mandate placed on her by the voters.

Kimori further blamed Governor Kihika for the closure of War Memorial Hospital, which he argued had left hundreds of Nakuru residents without essential healthcare.

Moreover, the Nakuru resident cited deteriorating general services in the county in Kihika’s absence and pleaded with Trump to facilitate her return to Kenya.

He equated Kihika’s continued stay in the US as neglect of duty despite earning a huge salary.

“As an elected governor, she has a constitutional duty to ensure that public services, including healthcare, remain accessible to the people. However, her prolonged absence while critical services in Nakuru deteriorate amounts to neglect of her responsibilities despite her receiving huge salaries,” Kimori lamented.

By the time of this publication, President Trump and Ruto had not responded to Kimori’s concerns. However, Kihika shared the progress on some development projects in her county, including road and water connectivity works.

“Over the past week, we have continued to deliver on our commitment to ensuring access to clean water and promoting climate resilience through the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Program,” Kihika stated.

Besides development projects, Kihika has not shared any updates regarding her private life despite different reports clouding different social media platforms on the reason for her stay in the US.

On March 11, 2025, Milicent Omanga shared photos while hanging out with Kihika without giving details on their meeting.
