Kenyans are listed among the unhappy countries in the world

Nairobi – The level of happiness in Kenya has dropped again, according to a 2025 global happiness report.

Kenya is now ranked 115 out of the 147 nations surveyed, marking the second consecutive decline.

In 2024, Kenya was listed 114, having already dropped from number 111 in 2023.

This trend changes the five -year period of the previous improvement, showing the direction of the decline in national prosperity.

Despite the decline, Kenya remains the happiest country in East Africa, taking the first place in Uganda (116), Somalia (122), Ethiopia (132), Tanzania (136), and the Democratic Republic of Congo (141).

In Africa, Mauritius holds the highest position, ranked 78th worldwide. Other African nations, such as Congo (100), Namibia (103), Cameroon (104), and Nigeria (100), they have also written higher levels of happiness than Kenya.

In the world, Finland has once again claimed the first place as the happiest country in the world, followed by Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden.

Under such standards, Afghanistan remains the world's most unpleasant country, ranking 147, followed by Sierra Leone (146), Lebanon (145), Malawi (144), and Zimbabwe (143).

These rates depend on an average of three years to ensure stability, meaning major changes are rare unless a serious conflict arises. The amazing trend in this year's report is the continued rule of the Nordic nations, which have been holding high positions from time to time due to high social beliefs, economic stability, and high quality public services.

Meanwhile, industrialized western nations such as the United States (now listed of 24), Canada (18), and Switzerland (13) have seen a rapid decline, a significant involvement and increased political divisions and social mistrust.

Despite international uncertainty, the report highlights that people have a tendency to undermine the goodness of others. Researchers suggest that recognizing good intentions in society can contribute to greater happiness in general.
