Boost for promotion-hungry APS Bomet as NSL Title challengers secure multi-million sponsorship

NSL side APS Bomet have secured a major financial booster as they continue strong quest to challenge for promotion to the FKF Premier League.

National Super League (NSL) side APS Bomet have received a major boost in their pursuit of promotion to the FKF Premier League after securing a sponsorship deal worth millions to support them for the remainder of the season.

The club, currently second in the NSL standings with 51 points from 24 matches, trails leaders Nairobi United by just one point.

Their latest push for top-flight football follows a frustrating 2022 promotion campaign that was nullified after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) voided the 2021/2022 season.

WRBET, a betting firm, has stepped in to support APS Bomet with a financial package aimed at strengthening their campaign, agreeing to and signing a five-month contract.

“We have donated 5.5 million to help them with some of the things that are really in need, and we will also be donating 270,000 for the kids. We thought it was a good initiative to partner WRBET with APS Bomet,.” said assistant CEO Antoinette Kawemba.

The decision to back APS Bomet came after WRBET’s thorough evaluation of the club’s structure and progress.

“We have done a bio check on the company and the football club. We have seen that in terms of administration, the whole structure is well set, and the team is really striving for excellence. From the small division to where they are now, it’s been a big challenge.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang lauds Kenyans after dashing Harambee Stars’ World Cup hopes

Gabon captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had all good things to say about Kenyans after scoring twice to all but end Harambee Stars’ World Cup qualification hopes.

“They have not had sponsors, and you understand how Kenyan football is without sponsorship. It can be really a struggle to achieve whatever you want. So as WRBET, we chose to partner and work with the team.”

WRBET’s regional director, Vadim Dayanov, expressed confidence in the partnership, emphasizing its long-term benefits for both the club and Kenyan football.

“I’m happy to be at the contract signing and establishment of our cooperation because I believe we can build a strong future together.

“So far, as far as I’m concerned, the base of supporters is immense. We’re talking about police officers, military personnel, and legal officers. From what I’ve heard, there are more than 30,000 police officers active in the Republic of Kenya.

“So it’s a huge base of supporters, and of course, we can give them this chance to help their team get to the major leagues, climb up the rankings, and reach higher divisions with our support.”

APS Bomet CEO Chemtai Rose underscored the significance of the partnership, given the club’s long-standing struggle without financial backing.

“Today’s partnership means a lot to APS Bomet FC. As everyone is aware, APS Bomet FC has never had a sponsor. We’ve just been struggling on our own, so this really means a lot.

“We have been working hard, and our performance has always been visible even without a sponsor. “

Assistant Inspector General of Police Steven Etiang lauded the team’s effort and emphasized the impact of the sponsorship.

“We are proud of the team. The way they are performing, they are now in second place and doing very well.

“This team has been struggling due to a lack of finances, but now, with this kind of sponsorship, I believe the players will be motivated and will perform even better.

“On behalf of the Administration Police Service and our Deputy Inspector General, I can say this is a great achievement and a step forward.”

With this financial boost, APS Bomet are in a strong position to push for a return to Kenya’s top tier, setting their sights on the FKF Premier League.

If they can maintain their momentum, the club could be on the verge of a historic promotion, backed by newfound stability and ambition.
