Vihiga Deputy Governor, Wilberforce Kitiezo, on Saturday, commissioned the Kayila community water project in Luanda South ward to mark World Water Day.
Mr Kitiezo said the project would be serving over 100 households in the Ekwanda area in line with the county government’s drive to increase water connectivity.
The DG stated that there was a plan to expand the project so that more residents have access to clean and safe water.
He said that the works are implemented under the Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) programme.
FLLoCA projects are funded by the national Climate Fund, which disburses monies to counties in a bid to build resilience for the communities in the face of climate change effects.
The deputy county head added that they want to ensure that in two years, all households are onboarded by the ongoing last-mile connectivity.
