President William Ruto has reiterated his commitment to fundraising for churches across the country, stating that he will continue “supporting God’s work” despite criticism.
Speaking during a church service at the African Inland Church (AIC) in Jericho, Nairobi County, Ruto dismissed those questioning his continued church donations, emphasizing the importance of building places of worship.
“I am very proud to be a leader of a nation whose God is the Almighty. The devil is now ashamed. I am a builder by nature. Building is part of me. We will continue to build houses, roads, classrooms, and even churches,” he said.
During his address, the President also pledged financial support for the completion of the AIC Church, which remains unfinished.
“I will be a member of the building committee of this church. I am not asking for anyone’s permission. So we are going to work together to complete this church,” he stated.
At the same time, Ruto defended his broad-based approach to governance, stating that it is inclusive and eliminates the “winner-takes-all” political system.
“I assure you that we will work together with all leaders—both political and religious—for the sake of this nation. One does not have to lose for another to win. We can all be winners. Uniting Kenyans remains my main agenda,” he stated.
The President has faced criticism over his frequent church contributions, with some questioning the source of the funds. However, he has remained steadfast in his commitment, arguing that faith and governance can go hand in hand.
