MP beaten, kicked out of Nyayo Stadium as Harambee Stars lose to Gabon [VIDEO]

A Kenyan MP was on the receiving end after he was roughed up by fans and kicked out of Nyayo Stadium during Harambee Stars’ 2-1 loss to Gabon on Sunday.

A member of Parliament was roughed up and kicked out of Nyayo National Stadium during Harambee Stars’ match against Gabon on Sunday.

Harambee Stars played in front of a capacity crowd at a sold-out stadium as they sought victory to boost their 2026 World Cup qualification chances.

However, they lost the match 2-1 thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s brace either side of the two halves, with Michael Olunga scoring what turned out to be the consolation for Kenya.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted twice as Harambee Stars suffered a setback in their 2026 World Cup qualifier at Nyayo Stadium.

While there was plenty of action on the pitch, a lot was happening off it with Mumias East MP Peter Salasya getting kicked out of the stadium in ruthless fashion.

The MP, who came into the stadium dressed in an AFC Leopards jersey, was beaten by a section of fans and kicked out of the stadium in what is perceived to be a politically-motivated attack.

Salasya is believed to have made remarks about a leading Kenya politician that did not go down well with some of his supporters and when he showed up at the stadium, he was ‘made to pay’ for his utterances.

Harambee Stars Player Ratings vs Gabon: Richard Odada shines but who disappointed for Benni McCarthy’s men?

Harambee Stars had a much-improved performance in their 2-1 loss to Gabon at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday and here is how the players performed.

It was an ugly scene that watered down the great organisation of the match with the fixture also witnessing a section of fans get into the match venue without tickets after forcing their way through one of the entry points.

After the contest, there were reports of muggings among supporters, showing the negative effects of the sold-out match that Football Kenya Federation will have to address to avoid fan apathy in future.

Defeat for Harambee Stars looks to have effectively ended their World Cup qualification hopes as they are now nine points behind Group F leaders Gabon and can be 10 adrift of Ivory Coast, if the Africa champions beat The Gambia on Monday.
