“Everyone is ready to go for tomorrow. I think the fact that we are playing at home gives us an ooph going into the game, so everyone is ready,” Otieno said.

Gabon forward Denis Bouanga has put Harambee Stars on notice ahead of vital 2026 World Cup qualifier.

The former ZESCO United shot stopper said the idea of playing infront of their own fans for the first time in four years serves as extra motivation.

“We are equally happy to be back home because we’ve been playing away from home. We look forward to the fans and the support of the home crowd. I am sure,  just like any other day, we are all going to give it our best.”

Mohammed Bajaber: How Harambee Stars wonderkid stole the show in white jersey debut

Mohammed Bajaber was a shing light in Harambee Stars 3-3 draw against The Gambia but how did he perform at the Alassane Quattara Stadium in Ivory Coast?

Harambee Stars are fourth in the six-team pool after managing a meagre six points from five matches and the Gabon encounter offers the Michael Olunga-captained Stars the opportunity to close the gap with leaders Ivory Coast and second-placed Gabon.

Otieno, who saved the penalty against The Gambia, insists that Gabon’s match will be tactical and called for caution. “I think it’s gonna be a good tactical game. Yes, they’ve got good players but we’ve equally got good players in the team. So I think tomorrow is gonna be a very interesting game and a very tactical game.”

Benni McCarthy is expected to  ring changes to his starting lineup. The South African has hinted at handing a starting role to those who came off the bench against Gambia after their impressive cameo appearances.

Benni McCarthy remains defiant over Harambee Stars’ World Cup chances as he promises changes for Gabon clash

Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy still has hopes of clinching a World Cup place despite a draw away to the Gambia as he looks to freshen up the team for Gabon on Sunday.

The Stars must be solid defensively to avoid another concentration lapse evident against Gambia after gifting The Scorpions two easy goals.

McCarthy will also be keen to have a fluid midfield after Stars struggled to impose themselves against Gambia in a below par first half performance. The Match at a sold-out Nyayo Stadium kicks off at 4:00 pm.
