Why did Kisii elders approve Matiang'i?

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, March 20, the leaders publicly confirmed to support Matiang'i without staggering in the next presidential election.

They said Matiang'i's record in various government responsibilities shows that he has the qualifications to lead the country.

“I say we respect him, we love him but if he doesn't want to support Matiang'i we ask him to keep quiet,” They said.

They denied allegations that Kisii community was the only foundation for Matiang'i, saying they were strengthening its support at home.

Jubilee and UPABLIA Matiang'i

This is happening with an ongoing conflict between Jubilee Party By the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), both claiming Matiang'i as their presidential candidate.

The controversy started after UPA leaders from Kisii criticized Jubilee general secretary Jeremiah Kioni for approved Matiang'i as their presidential candidate.

The leaders added that they had already consulted Matiang'i, who had agreed to run for president for their party ticket.
