Millions FKF expect from Harambee Stars’ first home game against Gambia

FKF is set to reap big and rake in millions as Harambee Stars settles scores with Gabon at the Nyayo Stadium but how much exactly is the federation expected to make?

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is set to pocket millions as Harambee Stars make a long-awaited return to home soil for an international match on Sunday.

Harambee Stars, under the stewardship of South African tactician Benni McCarthy, host Gabon at the Nyayo Stadium in matchday six of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Stars play Gambia on Thursday in Ivory Coast and return to Nairobi  for their first home fixture since 2021. 


Harambee Stars goalkeeper trainer Moeneeb Josephs has hit out at the South African giants for not showing respect and sportsmanship following their recent league loss.


“We have a total of 22,900 tickets, and we are looking at making around Ksh 9.1 million from this game,” FKF CEO Haron Ndege told Mozzart Sports. “The VVIP category is a new addition that comes with a premium experience, ensuring our top fans and stakeholders enjoy the match in a unique way.” 

Tickets are available across all the three categories where, Sh300 per ticket will  cater for the 21,000 available seats. 1800 seats for VIP will cost 1000 per ticket while acquiring a seat at the VVIP where 100 seats have been reserved , one will have to part with Sh10,000 per ticket.

The Joe Kadenge stadium, formerly City stadium, which previously served as home ground for Gor Mahia is expected to be in usable condition following renovations.


Gabon boast one of the most experienced strikers in the world of football in ex-Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Harambee Stars sit fourth in their World Cup qualifying group with five points, while Ivory Coast leads with 10, followed by Gabon (9) and Burundi (7).
