Kiharu administration officers skip MP Ndindi Nyoro’s official function

Administration officers from Kiharu, Murang’a, gave a wide berth to an official opening of their office, which was being presided over by the area Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro.

Ideally, the officers who are the ones to occupy the office would have been present during the handing over, but in what appears to have been an order from above, none of them showed up.

This comes a day after Nyoro made a statement saying his relationship with the president took a nosedive last year during the ouster of the former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua.

Nyoro, who remained silent during the Gachagua impeachment, was now seen as being disloyal to the president, leading to his removal from the chair of the budget committee last week.

Nyoro unfazed

However, the absence of the administration officers did not bother him as he went ahead to commission it and other road projects done in the area.

He maintained that he will continue respecting every leader, adding that his key focus is to ensure he delivers development to the people.

“Too much talking will not help in doing any projects. What people want to see is development, and that will also be my legacy as their leader,” Nyoro remarked.

“Exchange of words won’t add any value to the people; if there is anything we have to exchange, it’s the development ideas,” he added.

He urged other leaders also to focus on development as they have a task cut out for them by the residents who elected them to their respective seats.

Nyoro insisted on remaining silent over the issues that are happening in the country, saying when the time comes, he will speak out.

He, however, warned other leaders against poking into his eye, saying they should not take his silence for cowardice.

“I chose to respect everybody, but one should not take it as fear,” added Nyoro.

Local leaders who had accompanied Nyoro said it was obvious the government has now drawn the party line for the MP but viewed to stand with him.

Kamau Mutuota said it’s clear someone gave an order to the administrators not to attend the event.

“The administration officers have been attending all other events organised by the MP, and their failure to turn up for this one makes it clear they were instructed to keep off,” said Kamau.
