According to the newspaper, President William Ruto is expected to welcome MPs from Mount Kenya in the White House.

The meeting follows a preliminary meeting chaired by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki last week, which was part of the preparations for a one -week presidential visit to the area.

The visit, which is expected to take place late this month or early April, has already sparked political tension in an area that previously supported Ruto's resignation 2022 but later turned into a hatred following a dispute with his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.

Gachagua, who was dismissed in October, has been a major critic of the government and is reportedly planning to launch a new political party in May before the 2027 general elections.

The newspaper reported that Gachagua's allies expect Ruto to address issues of the removal of some Mount Kenya members from parliamentary leadership and to be responsible for the promises that are not implemented in the campaign.

A White House official confirmed the meeting but referred to it as a “moving goal” because of the lack of specific time.

Last week's meeting in Karen, attended by 54 MPs from the area, aimed to identify projects ready to be launched during the President's visit.

These projects include improving infrastructure such as roads and irrigation schemes, and already a lot of money has been allocated.

Mathira MP Eric of Mumbi said that the president's visit would involve launching completed and underway projects, including the Kenol-Mahau Dual Carriageway and Mau Mau.

Mumbi emphasized that the visit aims to restore the support of Mount Kenya, which has been criticizing the Kenyan government first since Gachagua's resignation.

However, some MPs, such as Edward Muriu of Gatanga, claimed they were not included in the preparation and expressed doubts about the impact of the visit, citing lack of new projects.

Jubilee party secretary Jeremiah Kioni argued that the area had already determined its political direction by 2027 and that no number of visits or projects would change its position.
