“Lorraine is my daughter, and Caro is her mother. The last time I talked to her was when her mother went to India for treatment. She had phoned to ask me if I could come in, and I told her I was traveling to Hong Kong. I assured her that we would see what we would do when I returned,” she narrated.

Jirongo explained that at Hong Kong, he received another phone from his wife, demanding that he contact Kiprono, Lorraine's uncle, who had no new number.

He then phoned Kiprono's brother, who informed him of what had happened.

“I had to interrupt my journey and return to see her. My daughter was not sick and she had never been a sick baby. The only time she was weak was when she was born,” she added.
