The National Police Service (NPS) paid its final tributes to constable Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai as the body of the fallen officer was interred at his home in Naserian Village in Kajiado on Wednesday, March 19 2025.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli, who represented the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, led the exclusive police function that saw politicians and members of the disciplined forces join the Kaetuai family for the send-off of their beloved, which included the traditional 21-gun salute.
Kaetuai died on February 23, 2025, while working as part of the Kenyan contingent in Haiti.
His body was flown to Kenyan on March 10, 2025, and has been preserved at the Chiromo mortuary.

During the function, Masengeli hailed the officer as a devoted officer, a patriot and a beacon of hope whose unwavering commitment to the force would inspire other soldiers.
“The National Police Service extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fellow officers. May the legacy of PC Samuel, marked by dedication and selflessness, continue to inspire us all, a statement from the Police service on Facebook read.
“His unwavering commitment to peace and security extended beyond our borders, inspiring his colleagues and all who knew him. Kaetuai is survived by a widow and two children.
The burial ceremony happened as questions linger over the future of the Kenyan mission in Haiti amid concern over the challenges of finances and funding of the mission.
Keatuai’s burial came after another Kenyan police officer under the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti was injured on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area.
Confirming the incident, MSS spokesperson Jack Ombaka, in a statement dated Wednesday, March 19, 2025, said that the injured officer was promptly evacuated to Aspen Level 2 Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention and is reported to be in stable condition.
“Today, Tuesday, 18th March 2025, a member of the MSS Kenyan contingent was injured while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area. The officer was promptly evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention and is in stable condition.
“We extend our gratitude to all Haitians of goodwill and others who have expressed their wishes for a swift recovery,” Ombaka said.
“We will continue to provide updates through our official social media channels as necessary. I sincerely thank you all for your unwavering support and cooperation as we engage in this decisive phase of operations against criminal elements,” his statement read.
