Content creator and influencer Azziad Nasenya has opened up about a recent health scare after catching a severe flu that caused her lips to swell unexpectedly.

Azziad took to her Instagram stories on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, to share photos and videos of her condition that had turned her into a temporary lip filler enthusiast, shocking her followers with the drastic change in her appearance.

She explained that the flu started mildly, but by the time she went to bed, her upper lip had swollen significantly.

Hoping for a quick remedy, Azziad visited a pharmacy, where she was given medicine and reassured that the swelling would go down within an hour. However, things did not go as expected, and her condition worsened, forcing her to seek medical attention at a hospital.

Responding to fans who reacted to her swollen lips in her DMs, the content creator playfully warned them that they could find themselves in a similar predicament one day.

“I had a really bad flu. Caught the bug that has been going around. This is how it started, very small. By the time I was going to bed, this was the condition. Like I had gone to the pharmacy. I got medicine, and they said it would go down in an hour, but that didn’t happen. It wasn’t going down at all. I had to go to the hospital. Nyinyi chekeni kwa DMs zangu. Chuma chenu ki motoni. I never imagined this could happen to me,” Azzid shared.

Financial struggles and comeback

Azziad’s battle with the flu comes weeks after she made a notable return to the public eye and addressed recent controversies.

Before her return, rumours had surfaced claiming that Azziad owed large sums of money to acquaintances. Social media was abuzz with claims that she had borrowed money to sustain her lifestyle but failed to pay it back.

“I do not borrow money to fund my lifestyle. Everything I have, I have worked hard for. People love to talk, but at the end of the day, my work speaks for itself,” she said dismissing the reports.

She also took to her social media to throw subtle shade at her critics, posting a photo mid-flight with the caption: “Posting from 38,000 feet… but they still think I owe them money.”

Azziad has been actively engaging with her audience since her grand return. On March 8, she hosted the launch of a Maybelline Kiosk at Greenspan Mall in Donholm. She hinted at bigger projects in the pipeline, promising her fans that she was just getting started.

“This year is all about new beginnings. There’s so much in store, and I can’t wait to share it with you all,” she teased.
