Kiharu Member of Parliament and Former Budget and Appropriations Committee Chairman Ndindi Nyoro has revealed that he remains in the dark about the reasons behind his recent removal from the influential parliamentary position.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, March 18 2025, the Kiharu MP expressed bewilderment over his replacement, stating that he received no prior communication from coalition leaders regarding any issues with his performance.
“I don’t know why I was replaced and I am saying it in good faith,” Nyoro stated.
“I did not come here to accuse anyone today. I only came to set the record straight,” he added.
He highlighted that no leadership figure within the ruling coalition had approached him concerning his work as committee chair.
“No one in the leadership of our coalition from whichever position has ever called me in regard to the position. In regards to what I need to do better, in regards to what I need to change… I read in newspapers about myself, the same way you do in terms of this position. That is the truth,” he explained.

Despite the circumstances of his removal, Nyoro reflected positively on his time leading the committee, acknowledging the demanding nature of the role.
“This position is very involving, sometimes sleeping in this office, leaving here very early in the morning, not just myself but also the members we were serving with, but it was also an experience to learn and know Kenya,” he said.
The MP expressed gratitude to his constituents, recognizing their role in his political journey.
“Let me thank the people of Kiharu Constituency because to become the Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations committee, you need to become an MP first. I don’t want to chest thump but I’m just saying it in humility, I’m grateful to the people of Kiharu for the honour to have served them as an MP,” Nyoro said.
Taking a reconciliatory tone, Nyoro emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive outlook despite political setbacks.
“Anger and hatred are too heavy a burden for any leader to carry and you only carry anger and those kind of other negative emotions to the advantage of instructors. So it is important that in politics you draw the line, this is the politics I want to play, draw that line whatever it is all through,” he stated.
New committee chair
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Samuel Atandi, the MP for Alego Usonga, was elected as the new chairperson of the National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee, succeeding Ndindi Nyoro.
After securing the position, Atandi expressed gratitude to the broad-based government led by President William Ruto and Raila Odinga.

He noted that he is taking over the committee at a time when Kenyans are questioning resource distribution.
“We have reached this place courtesy of their support, and I thank the broad-based government for the opportunity to serve. I also extend my sincere gratitude to my party leader, Raila Odinga,” Atandi said.
“We will do everything possible to live up to the expectations of Kenyans,” he added.
