Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has revealed that he holds no grudge following his ouster from the powerful Budget and Appropriations Committee (BAC) in the National Assembly.

Speaking during a press conference with journalists in Nairobi, Nyoro noted that being the chairperson of the budget committee had accorded him valuable lessons and he was grateful for his time.

“Every politician has their own brand of politics. Myself, I do not answer evil with evil; neither do I answer insults with insults,” Nyoro said.

“As a leader, you cannot continue being provoked and then you dance to the tune. Anger and hatred are too heavy a burden for any leader to carry, and you only carry anger and those kinds of other negative emotions to the advantage of detractors.”

Replaced with Atandi

Nyoro was removed from the leadership of the powerful committee and replaced with Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi who is deputized by Endebess MP Robert Pukose who previously chaired the Health Committee.

The second-term Kiharu MP who has remained silent since the acrimonious ouster of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, says his work has never been questioned by the leadership of the Kenya-Kwanza coalition and that he could not understand what necessitated his removal from the position.

“No one in the leadership of our coalition from whichever position has ever called me in regards to the position, what I need to do better, change or do things in a different manner,” Nyoro revealed.

Leaders decry dewhipping

Leaders from the Mount Kenya region have been lamenting over the recent dewhipping of a section of their politicians from key committee leadership, noting that it was targeting those allied to Gachagua.

Speaking during a live TV interview on Thursday, March 13, 2025, Nyutu observed that Mt Kenya leaders holding leadership positions in committees had been purged because of their supposed support of Gachagua.

“Nobody wanted to reconstitute the committees. It was something concocted to kick out all the leaders from the Mount Kenya region, and anybody who voted ‘no’ or abstained from the motion of ousting Rigathi Gachagua was not allowed to survive as a chair in both houses,” Nyutu said.

Nyoro was axed alongside Embakasi North MP James Gakuya who previously chaired the Trade and Industry Committee, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba who chaired the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee (CIOC) and Runyenjes MP Karemba Muchangi who previously held the Labour committee, among others.
