Kenya’s capital Nairobi will experience several traffic snarl-ups within the week even as several high-profile dignitaries visit the country, including the Kings of Netherlands and Lesotho.
On Monday, March 18, 2025, night, the King and Queen of the Netherlands Willem-Alexanderr and Máximawill arrive for a state visit in Nairobi.
Dutch state visit follows an invitation by President William Ruto marking their first state visit to Kenya.
On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, the King and Queen of the Netherlands have numerous movements within the city, including tree planting, which will cause traffic disruptions.
Also on Tuesday, the King of Lesotho Letsie III will arrive in Nairobi for an official visit.
From Tuesday, March 18, to Friday, March 21, 2025, City Hall Way will be closed for the Safari Rally’s start trials outside the Nairobi Governor’s offices.
On Wednesday, his entourage will travel to Naivasha via Mai Mahiu and return, a trip which will see trucks rerouted.
The King of Lesotho will on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, visit factories near Clay Works, Ruiru, and a school in Ruiru town for tree planting before his departure the following day. The trip will see several traffic disruptions happen, especially along Thika Road.
The two kings and queen will leave the country on Thursday, March 20, 2021, which could see further disruptions along Mombasa Road and Uhuru Highway among other city roads as they head to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
On Friday, March 21, 2025, the Safari Rally will moves to Naivasha for the full action.
