TikToker Obidan Dela, who was a part of slain TikToker Brian Chira’s inner circle, has led his family, including his brother and cousin, in mourning him on his first death anniversary, which falls today, March 16, 2025.
In a video shared on his TikTok page on Saturday, March 15, 2025, Obidan is seen standing with Chira’s brother and cousin while they held a large framed photo of him, reminiscing about the fond memories they shared with the TikTok star, who tragically passed away on March 16, 2024.
The three also reflected on the humorous things Chira used to say, such as “Kama wewe si pesa, huwezi ni-stress”, while also singing his favourite song, ‘One Call’, a popular hit by Kenyan R&B singer Otile Brown, which he had also performed during his funeral.
“Yo guys, Obidan Dela hapa, guys, na niko na Brian Chira na Sophie Njeri Chira Kadogo na wananiambia tu kama vile Chira alikuwa anawaambia, ‘Kama wewe si pesa, huwezi ni-stress.’”
Obidan, who has taken up the role of assisting Chira’s grandmother ever since the TikToker’s passing and after she fell out with her former helper, Baba Talisha, went on to express how much he personally missed Chira and stated that they were interceding for good things upon his soul.
“Yes, yes. Na alikuwa anapenda wimbo ipi? We love you and miss you.”
Prayers for his soul
While Obidan encouraged the two to reminisce about the cherished memories they had with their departed relative, the youngest among them, cousin Stephie Njeri, took it a step further by recalling a moment when Chira had stepped in to cover her hospital bills, an act of kindness she admitted she could never forget.

She sent tender words of intercession for his soul, saying that wherever he was, he should know how deeply they missed him and still loved him.
“Vile nilikuwa hospitali, Chira alinipa pesa. Penye ako, naweza mwambia nammiss sana juu ya yake alinifanyia, na nammiss sana, na pia nampenda sana.“
According to Chira’s young cousin, TikTok is a viable avenue for sustaining a livelihood, and given how well her late relative had been doing, she, too, aspires to become a TikToker when she grows up.
“Nataka kuwa TikToker nikikuwa mkubwa, so guys, tunawapenda sana na tunapenda Chira.“

Chira’s tragic death
The former TikTok star met his untimely demise after he was hit by a canter trailer on the night of 16th March 2024 during a road dash as he attempted to cross to the other side.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, and his body was discovered by the roadside early the next morning, with police stating that investigations were underway.
By the time of his passing, Chira had become a hot topic on the popular video-sharing app, having already surpassed the 400,000 followers mark.
His candour in videos, his witty reactions to trending topics, and his fluency in English had cemented his place on the For You Page [FYP] of many netizens, making him a viral content creator for months.
However, it wasn’t until the tragic incident on March 16 that his young life was cut short at the tender age of 23, leaving the TikTok community and Kenyans in general discussing him for months.
Following his death, TikTokers donated Ksh8 million to his grandmother in a bid to fulfil his promise of one day buying her a decent house. However, the funds later became the centre of controversy as Chira’s grandmother accused the fundraiser’s organiser, Baba Talisha, of misappropriating the money.
Chira’s burial took place on Tuesday, March 26, 2025, in Gitei, Gathanje, at his grandmother’s ancestral home, in a ceremony that drew a crowd larger than a political rally.
