Paralympian Hunter Woodhall explains the turning point in his life after making history at the Olympic Games.

Paralympic champion Hunter Woodhall has revealed why winning the gold medal in the Paris Olympic Games has helped change his life.

Hunter, who is husband to Olynmpian Tara Davis Woodhall, also wishes the sport to grow. Highlighting the importance of Track and Field in his career, he reminisced about his 400m T62 gold-winning moment in the French capital.

In an Instagram post, the American said: “Reminiscing on this moment, and this sport. It has given me every good thing in my life. I want to see it grow and continue to change. Thank you to everyone who is pouring into it.”

Hunter, who made his international debut in 2015 with a silver and bronze medal at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships, is currently on vacation with Tara, as the duo take their time out before attention shifts to the 225 season.

Hunter was spotted watching the 2025 NCAA Track and Field Championships. He said with the knowledge of the yesteryears, the NCAA is set for a bright future.  “Watching the NCAA meet today I’m so excited for the future of the sport. If you get some time today watch NCAA’s on ESPN+”

Hunter Woodhall’s life has been full of challenges. Born in Georgia, United States Woodhall’s parents decided to amputate both of his legs at 11 months old due to fibular hemimelia.

Raised in Syracuse, Utah, he was homeschooled until fifth grade and upon entering public school he was bullied for his disability. Although he was initially given prosthetic legs, Woodhall switched to carbon fiber “blades” for running and joined a track team.

During his sophomore and junior years, Woodhall ran a lifetime-best 46.22 seconds in the 400 meter at the SEC outdoor championships and became a three-time All-American in the 4x400m.

Fast forward, Woodhall married his longtime girlfriend, Tara Davis-Woodhall on October 16, 2022. They had met at a track meet in Idaho in 2017. The pair celebrated their medal heroics in Paris and Hunter also won bronze in the 4x100m Universal Relay where he ran the 3rd leg.
