However, it was Chris Ochieng’ who sealed the victory in the 88th minute with a brilliant solo effort, weaving past defenders before slotting home the decisive goal.

Tusker striker Ryan Ogam chose to honour Benni McCarthy’s Harambee Stars call-up but his club is not happy with him over a number of reasons.
“I’m always happy. Sometimes more emotional, yes. But, you know, when you have a hard game… The main problem was, we were good without the ball. But with the passing, we didn’t have many options,” Mihic analyzed.
The coach admitted that Gor Mahia initially struggled to create clear opportunities but made key tactical changes that turned the game in their favor.
“We changed the game. We changed the system. I saw where the problem was. I put a striker, dropped one midfielder—Austin came out because the team needed it. We switched to a 5-3-2 and closed the midfield with Morrison and Wendell. After that, every attack we transitioned into was dangerous,” he explained.

Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has been told how to make his stint in Kenya successful by a former South African international.
Despite missing several chances to finish the game earlier, Mihic praised his side’s defensive organization and overall tactical discipline.
“We should have finished the game earlier—many chances from just one meter, just sliding, but we didn’t. This team is okay, but they didn’t create too many chances. Maybe two or three clear ones, that’s it. I think we deserved this win. Tactically, we looked better than them, especially without the ball.”
With this win, Gor Mahia on 42 points remain firmly in the title race, maintaining pressure on their closest rivals Kenya Police with 45 points at the summit and second-placed Tusker with 44 points.
