Content creator Faustine Lipuku, alias Baba Talisha, has paid tribute to the late TikToker Brian Chira on the first anniversary of his passing.
In a message shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, March 16, 2025, Baba Talisha reflected on the lessons he had learned since Chira’s departure. He expressed the importance of kindness, even when it is not appreciated, and acknowledged the painful reality that some people may not recognize or value sacrifices made for them.
“A year has passed, and Today reminds me of 2 things since This Boy Chira left. Never regret the kindness you showed somebody who didn’t deserve it. They did you wrong, you did them right, and for that, you should be proud. One day, somebody you sacrificed so much for will turn around and say they never asked for it, and it will hurt because they will be right,” the content creator stated.

Baba Talisha’s tribute comes in the wake of his recent criticism of Brian Chira’s grandmother, whom he accused of being ungrateful to the TikTok community. His remarks followed her controversial decision to consider selling the house that was built for her through a massive fundraising effort by well-wishers.
The grandmother’s revelation sparked a debate online, with many social media users feeling betrayed by her actions. Just a year ago, the TikTok community came together to raise Ksh8.4 million to build a fully furnished house for Chira’s grandmother. The house, which was named “Chira Clan,” was seen as a way to honor the late content creator’s memory, as he had dreamed of providing a comfortable home for his grandmother before his untimely death.
Baba Talisha, along with many TikTok users, expressed disappointment over her decision. In an earlier statement posted on his Instagram on February 12, 2025, he criticized her for not appreciating the overwhelming support she had received from the online community.
“I feel so ashamed seeing someone who has been helped by the online family, especially on TikTok, being so ungrateful. Ksh8.4 million was collected. Remained with Ksh7.4 million less than one year down, nothing. No one in the history of fundraising has been helped like her. It was just not enough for her,” Baba Talisha expressed.
Celebrating Chira
Earlier today, TikToker Obidan Dela, a close friend of the late Brian Chira, led his family in commemorating Chira’s first death anniversary.
In a video shared on his TikTok page, Obidan stood alongside Chira’s brother and cousin, both holding a large framed picture of the late content creator. The trio reflected on the cherished moments they had with him, recalling his humor and signature phrase, “Kama wewe si pesa, huwezi ni-stress.” They also sang One Call by Otile Brown, a song Chira loved and had performed at his funeral.
“Yo guys, Obidan Dela hapa, guys, na niko na Brian Chira na Sophie Njeri Chira Kadogo na wananiambia tu kama vile Chira alikuwa anawaambia, ‘Kama wewe si pesa, huwezi ni-stress,’” Obidan said in the video.

Since Chira’s passing, Obidan has been supporting his grandmother, especially after she parted ways with her previous helper, Baba Talisha. He expressed how deeply he missed his friend and mentioned that they were praying for his soul.
“Yes, yes. Na alikuwa anapenda wimbo ipi? We love you and miss you,” he added.
Chira tragically lost his life on the night of March 16, 2024, after being hit by a canter trailer while attempting to cross the road.
