Is getting the ID free?

Speaking at a public rally in Kibra on Thursday, March 13, the head of state canceled all identity fees, and ordered it to be given free to Kenyans.

He also instructed every citizen who needed identification to receive it without exception.

“Every citizen should be given an ID. And I want to announce it here in Kibra today that the IDs should be given at no cost, and in a way that does not discriminate against any Kenyan,” Ruto ordered.

This signifies a violation of the previous order that requires Kenyans to pay at least 300 KSh for new IDs and KSh 1000 for a change.

The state's head of state came to respond to the request of Kibra MP Peter Orero, who asked him to address issues raised by the Nubi community failing to obtain the necessary documents due to strict measures.

Speaking on the second day of his visit to the North East region, Ruto confirmed that making sure no area is left behind is one of his priorities for Kenya's change.

He expressed his regret over the exploration of the northeast residents and emphasized the government's commitment to end stigma and discrimination, especially in issuing important documents such as IDs and birth certificates.

In this regard, the President read a directive expressing the government's intention to end such a racist behavior.

At a ceremony held at Orahey Stadium in the city of Wajir, the head of state promised to invest in the northeast to help it achieve its full potential.

In addition to abolishing the requirements, Ruto launched a number of projects in the area, including the Shuublow Community Electricity Project and Secondary School, and opened the Tarbaj Teachers' Training College.

Added that the government of Kenya first It is planning to invest KSh 3.5 billion over the next two years to dominate at least 20,000 households in Wajir County.

The head of state also inaugurated the Wajir Museum in Abid to keep and record the cultural heritage of the region for present and future generations.

He also instructed the Wajir County parliament in Abid to emphasize cooperation between the national government and the county.
